Remembering September 11th
Students and staff members of North and South Elementary Schools honored men and women serving both our community and our nation last week in memory of the ten year anniversary of the September 11th tragedy. Staff members donated cookies which were delivered to Mt. Healthy fire and police departments, Hamilton County sheriff’s office, Colerain Township fire department, and Springfield Township fire and police departments to show their gratitude for the service these men and women provide to our community.
The sixth grade students at South Elementary also designed a flag in honor of 9-11. Students and staff members were asked to write on a star where they were and what their memories were on that September day. The stars were then placed on the memorial flag.
Firefighter Visit
To follow up on a reading story about firemen, the Mt. Healthy fire department came to South Elementary to visit the second grade students. On Monday, September 12th, firefighters Donte Hill, Seth Gauby, and Brad Powers spoke to the students about their job as firemen. Students were able to see the equipment used by the firemen. Firefighter Brad Powers demonstrated what firemen looked like when dressed in full
